Penekota - Pentecost Sunday
In Sunday's gospel Jesus breathes the Holy Spirit into the disciples who were transformed from timid, uncertain people into courageous truth tellers filled with the very in-dwelling of God. In the Second Reading we will hear that the fruits of being re-created by the Spirit-breath are love, joy, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. The Spirit brought unity in the common experience of one God in Jesus, one faith, and one baptism. This unity of heart is celebrated by the People of God in diverse and powerful ways today.

Veni Sancte Spiritus (Taize chant) HERE
Lyrics: Veni Sancte Spiritus (Repeated throughout)
Come, Holy Spirit, from heaven shine forth with your glorious light. Veni Sancte Spiritus
Come, Father of the poor, come, generous Spirit, come, light of our hearts. Veni Sancte Spiritus
Come from the four winds, O Spirit, come breath of God; disperse the shadows over us, renew and strengthen your people. Veni Sancte Spiritus
Most kindly warming light! Enter the inmost depths of our hearts, for we are faithful to you. Without your presence we have nothing worthy, nothing pure. Veni Sancte Spiritus
You are only comforter, Peace of the soul. In the heat you shade us; in our labour you refresh us, and in trouble you are our strength. Veni Sancte Spiritus
On all who put their trust in you and receive you in faith, shower all your gifts. Grant that they may grow in you and persevere to the end. Give them lasting joy! Veni Sancte Spiritus

A Concluding Prayer
Brothers and sisters, let us pray to the Holy Spirit, memory of God, revive in us the memory of the gift received. Free us from the paralysis of selfishness and awaken in us the desire to serve, to do good. Even worse than this crisis is the tragedy of squandering it by closing in on ourselves. Come, Holy Spirit: you are harmony; make us builders of unity. You always give yourself; grant us the courage to go out of ourselves, to love and help each other, in order to become one family. Amen.
