Mary the Holy Mother of God
January 1st is a Holy Day, not because it is New Years Day, but because it is the octave of Christmas. The feast of Mary the Mother of God, establishes that Jesus Son of God, truly became man at the incarnation. It was at Christmas that God-with-us (Emmanuel) is so "with us" that the Divine Word BECAME one of us and so can NEVER be divided from us. Mary (Theotokos) - meaning God-bearer - is one of Christianity's earliest names for Mary, the Mother of God.

January 1 is also celebrated as the World Day of Peace
“There can be no peace without a culture of care.”
Pope Francis offers the principles of social doctrine as a compass to foster peace. Participating in a culture of care is a way to combat the culture of indifference, waste and confrontation so prevalent in our time.
