Prayer Upon Returning Home After the Hurricanes

We give you praise, Lord of heaven and earth, for you are the strength of your people, in good times and bad.

After the great flood, your servant Noah and his family offered you a pleasing sacrifice of thanksgiving. Now, after this time of destruction, we thank you for keeping us safe under your care and for bringing us back to our home.

You have told us in the Bible: “Deep waters cannot quench love, nor floods sweep it away.” [Song of Songs 8:7] Let your everlasting love for us be our hope, this day and every day, as we live here once again. Let our love for you withstand every storm and difficulty, never to be swept from our hearts.

Praise to you, almighty Father, through Jesus Christ, our Lord and brother, in the power of the Holy Spirit, both now and for ever. Amen.
